01 · When Illness Affects Everything
When Living With Chronic Illness Affects Every Part of Your Life
Living with an autoimmune disorder or chronic illness can be an exhausting and often invisible struggle. When pain becomes part of your daily life, even ordinary activities can require an extraordinary amount of effort. Getting through the day, maintaining relationships, working, or making plans for the future may become more difficult when your body feels unpredictable or when your energy and abilities change from one day to the next.
Chronic illness can affect far more than your physical health. It can change the way you experience yourself, relate to others, and imagine your future. You may grieve the activities you can no longer enjoy, feel frustrated by the limitations imposed by your condition, or struggle with the uncertainty of not knowing how you will feel tomorrow. You may also feel isolated when others cannot see your pain or fully understand what it takes to live with it every day.
There may be times when you feel exhausted from having to be strong, explaining your symptoms, navigating medical appointments, or trying to maintain a sense of normalcy while managing something that never truly goes away. These experiences can take a significant emotional toll, affecting your mood, relationships, sense of identity, and overall quality of life.
You deserve a space where your experience is taken seriously, where you do not have to minimize your pain or explain why living with chronic illness can be so difficult.

02 · A Personal and Professional Understanding
A Personal and Professional Understanding
My work in this area is informed by both personal and professional experience with autoimmune disorders and chronic illness. I understand that illness is not simply a medical condition to manage; it is an experience that can shape daily life, relationships, emotional well-being, and one’s sense of self.
I also completed my clinical internship at the Cancer Support Community Center, where I worked with individuals affected by cancer and their families. This experience deepened my understanding of the emotional challenges that can accompany serious illness, including fear, uncertainty, grief, changes in family dynamics, and the difficult process of adjusting to a life that may look different than expected.
These experiences inform my commitment to offering a thoughtful, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space for individuals navigating the emotional complexities of illness.
You do not have to pretend that everything is okay, remain positive all the time, or carry the emotional weight of your experience on your own.
You deserve to be taken seriously.
03 · Psychotherapy for Chronic Illness
Psychotherapy as a Space for Your Experience
Therapy offers an opportunity to explore what it means to live with chronic illness and how it has affected your emotional world, relationships, and sense of self. Together, we can make space for the frustration, grief, fear, anger, and exhaustion that may be difficult to express elsewhere. We can also explore how illness has shaped your identity, your expectations for the future, and your ability to remain connected to the parts of life that matter to you.
My approach is grounded in psychodynamic and existential therapy. Through a psychodynamic lens, we can explore how your personal history, relationships, and emotional experiences shape the way you understand and navigate illness. An existential perspective invites us to reflect on the deeper questions that may emerge when living with chronic pain or a long-term medical condition, including changes in identity, uncertainty, loss, meaning, and the challenges of living with limitations that may be beyond your control.
Rather than focusing solely on coping with symptoms, therapy offers a space to explore your experience in its complexity, acknowledge what has changed, and consider how you might continue to live in ways that feel meaningful and authentic to you. The goal is not to deny the reality of your pain or suggest that emotional work can eliminate physical symptoms, but to support your emotional well-being and help you navigate the challenges of illness while maintaining a meaningful connection to yourself and your life.
Whether you have recently received a diagnosis or have been living with a chronic condition for years, you deserve care that recognizes the complexity of what you are going through.
